Asif Ali Zardari, the
man who changed the history of Pakistan, he took over the Aiwan-e-saddar on 9 September 2008 as the 11th
president of Pakistan. His initial work started by calling Hamid Karzai, the
president of Afghanistan, which helped deepen the relations of Pakistan. Later
he went to UN where the most successful work he did was to basically develop
better relationship with Indian Prime Minister.
But the above mentioned facts are just not enough to say that he
changed history. The reasons that forced us to give him the title of the man
who changed history is firstly and fore mostly that he was able to maintain his
presidency for the complete 5 year period and that is something never happened
in Pakistan before. He though faced a lot of criticism was able to keep army
satisfied and prevented another martial law in the country.
Moreover, his reign was the first reign where one democratic
government gave their control to another government. Though people reported
rigging in the election yet Pakistan was surely able to complete one era of
democratic government. Further on we saw that media criticized him and his government
a lot yet he showed a positive attitude and prevented to take any harsh actions
on banning them.
Moving towards his energy policy, he signed a really great agreement
that is the Iran-Pakistan gas pipeline, $500 million, controversial project.
This is the project that basically deals in by bringing gas all the way from
Iran to Pakistan. Moreover, he also signed an agreement in the trans- afghan
gas pipeline project. Hence making sure that in coming year Pakistan is able to
deal with the upcoming energy crisis issue.
Lastly, to sum it all up he was the president who faced all the most
controversial issue like his prime minister being derailed, the Swiss-bank
issue and many other related stuff. But we can say that he did took a lot of
tough decisions that were necessary for Pakistan at that time. Therefore, I
would be concluding by saying, Asif Ali Zardari is, the man who changed
history.
