The Sea Soldier

Human beings, biologically called as Homo-Sapiens, are species famous for haunting anything in their surrounding be it on land, air or even in the depths of water. They are blamed for making many species go extinct and our dear soldiers of sea, Mangroves are undergoing similar fate. Mangroves make a special saltwater  woodland  or shrub land   habitat , called a mangrove swamp or mangrove forest. These swamp in turn protect the shores from high tides by acting as resistance and reducing the intensity. Moreover numerous fish use them as shelter and lay eggs in the swamps. Seeds collected from Sea In Pakistan, mangroves are located mainly along the delta of the Indus River (the Indus River Delta-Arabian Sea mangroves eco region). M...

Life @ hostel

February 3 rd , 2014, was the day when I entered a place called CIIT Boys Hostel, entering the gates of hostel changed my life. Leaving behind all my friends and family members I chose to live at a place where I knew I would have no one to relate with. Slowly I adapted the environment of the hostel and adjusted myself according to hostel. Having to spent the first semester at hostel was little difficult as everything around me was new. New people, new surroundings, new friends and most of all new city.   This semester was spent in trying and understanding the differences between home and hostel. Finally by the time I was able to make friends, adjust to mess food and came to know of all the pros and cons of hostel the semester ended and I was at home for almost 1.5 month. But those 1.5 month appeared less. I kept on wishing that my holidays should be more and that I should have more time at home.   But as we say everything comes to an end and likewise these holidays cam...

The city I call dead

The city I call dead After getting admitted in COMSATS institute of information technology, 1.5 years back, I could still remember my happiness to study in a university ranked top in BCS and located in the heart of capital. I never knew the fact that my happiness will fade away and soon I will be missing the city famous for pollution, over population, theft and blood, yes I mean Karachi. The above mentioned terms are just few qualities that are given by the people of capital to my city, Karachi. I know that my city may had some defect yet the people in Karachi are all living. I could still remember the night of my flight to Islamabad when me and my friends were roaming on the streets of Karachi around 2.00 A.M in morning and yet didn't experienced the dead silence I experienced on the roads of Islamabad at 10.00 P.M. Landing on the airport and traveling all the way from there to my University I saw a clean and well-built roads, planned settlements, and green fi...

Ruthless Me

Ruthless, is one word that explains my personality, parting the comforts of home I chased the discomforts of hostel. Giving away the shade from sun I took to run barefoot on searing land. The belief that my dream bring into being residing away from home made me zilch but a heartbreaking ruthless spirit. Chose neither sun nor shade, my feet never stayed at one place. I kept on running to my dream, I made my self my own messenger ran to the illustrious seven seas yet , there is a draught within my heart. That divan of mine and the cold sea breeze lurks my way back. That honeyed tumbler of milk and the frosty water all questions my shadow where is that cold-blooded me. How this selfishness of mine that I have forgotten old love of mine. Envisioning myself as a free man, free spirit, perceiving myself as a storm of wind, then why have I ended   within myself only. Chose things to do alone, defined myself as a running entity, looked inside me for happiness yet I  couldn'...

Iqbal Day

Iqbal Day 9 th November is the day which is named as the Iqbal day. Pakistani people usually enjoy sipping coffees and tea on this day back at home as for them it’s yet another holiday from the hectic routine. The nation has forgotten the real feeling for this day. They usually don’t even know why we call this day as the Iqbal day. For them Iqbal was just a poet, philosopher and a person who dreamed Pakistan. But to understand Iqbal we need to look at Germans who have a research center on Iqbal. They publish verses of his poems on weekly or monthly basis and describe the entire philosophy behind. For them Sir. Muhammad Iqbal is not a sub-continent poet but is a great philosopher who teaches them how to live life. Iqbal wrote what he wrote for us to understand and we should have been working on preserving his work yet the Germans are the nation to actually do work that may please Iqbal. We, do nothing just give the nation a holiday and think that’s enough for such an imp...

En bordure de route terroriste

In Pakistan we all are familiar with word terrorist. Many refer it to as agencies working in Pakistan. But are we aware of the roadside terrorist that we can encounter on roads very easily. No! I am not talking about the thugs that rob us but I am talking about the public transport that roams on the road. The beautifully dressed ladies of road, Bus, the ugly looking taxis and the hybrid between car and motorcycle, rikshaws and qinchis, can be easily called as terrorists. Why? As they play an important role in hauling the gas-bomb on road. Several incidents have been heeded that CNG cylinders explode sometime injuring people and sometime having the audacity to even kill the passengers. Our media propagates so much on this issue. They blame the police officers and our so-called government but nothing happens as usual. Who should be really blamed for this issue? Should the Police are to be blamed, transporters are to be blamed or the government is to be blamed? Well really ...
